NEWS
November 14 - Greetings from Texas! Okay that was waaaaay too exuberant (it's not the good part of Texas, though I've been assured such a thing does exist). Unfortunately while the art for the next few strips is ready to go, I've been unable to find a scanner yet. Check back next Tuesday, cause even if I can't find one it'll be payday and I can go buy one. See you then!

October 27 - Well I promised I'd let you know the next time I ran into trouble here and, well this is me letting you know. I had hoped to build up a nice reserve of strips before I shipped off (internet & scanner access where I'm going yet to be determined) but real life has proven a harsh mistress. There's simply too much to do before I leave and unfirtunately the comic is lower on the priority list. Sorry everyone. I'm going to shoot for November 14th to start up again.

Wish me luck!

October 24 - Sorry everyone, but the gods of creativity (and daycare) have conspired to delay the comic for 24 hours. Check back on Wednesday.

October 10 - I should have given more respect to the gremlins in my scanner, but according to TV Guide time it's still Tuesday.

So I need to start off with a huge SORRY. I've been away from the webcomic for far too long. While some of that was unintentional I still should have had a lot more consideration for the nice people who stop by here from time to time. If there's going to be another break I promise to let you know up front.

The reason for the break was a sudden (though not unpleasant) leaving of my last job. Suffice to say that I can't really discuss the details, but it was a great opportunity and something I'd been considering for quite a while. I ended up with some nice time at home with Gabe, fixed up the money pit a bit and generally got my life in order so that I could...

join the Air Force Reserve as an Aeromedical Evacuation Technician. I've got a solid 8 months of schools and training ahead of me still, but I'll try to keep the disruptions to the comic to a minimum. I'll try to post some general info about my life on a new topic in the forum.

Other than that, you'll notice a few changes to the comic over the next few weeks as I try new things. If you like or dislike them please drop me a line to say so. And thanks again for being so patient!

October 6 - The hiatus ends: October 10. Details (and a very long apology) to come!

May 16 - Sorry to do this, folks, but I have to give you a placeholder today. I'm putting my cynicism on hold to volunteer at the polls for an acquaintence running for office. We'll see how it goes.

May 4 - What can I say? I'm not above a good boobies joke. There are about 3-4 more strips in this "based on actual events!!!" arc and then back to the sardonic non-sequiturs, I promise.

April 25 - The comments of Nice Guy do not reflect the opinion of the management. Personally I think the world would be a better place if everyone beat the stuffing out of each other with padded sticks on a regular basis. I know it would do wonders for my daily road rage. Wilcow appears courtesy of Hookie Dookie Panic, which is a great strip you should read. Brian is also a very fun guy to be around. Looks like we'll both be at Pi-Con, so that should be fun. Jennie Breeden, the workaholic force behind The Devil's Panties really does 'boff' (and quite well, though the axe is a bit of visually evocative fiction). And if you need an explanation of whether I mean "wink wink, nudge nudge" or "BIF! BAM! POW!" then you really haven't been paying attention to the theme of the comic, have you?

April 12 - I'm back from APE, at least physically. Aside from a throbbing shoulder, 4.5 pounds of un-given away Pixie Stix and a nasty case of jetlag everything went very well. I sold a few books and pushed the site. On the down side I didn't really get to walk the floor much, including to check out the enigmatic Jeff who was supposed to be signing his own work. I didn't see him at the tables, which was a shame since I wanted to return the favor of him being the very first person to buy an NGB book. There were lots of intimidatingly astounding artists there, including the folks from Flight. Overall I got to spend some quality time at one of my favorite places on earth, Muir Woods, and wander the city with my friend Nora of Inkfiend (whose site will be up as soon as we resolve some technical issues). Not sure if I'll be recharged in time for either MoCCA or Wizard Philly in June, but I should probably try to make it to one as an exhibitor (I'll be at both as an art-drooling, money-slinging fanboy).

April 4 - Back from ConBust. It was great to hang out with icons like Jeph Jacques and Jennie Breeden, plus I got to meet Brian Wilson from Hookie Dookie Panic and Thanatos from MSFT. Other than that, however, the place scored high on the Lameometer. Smith College might have a reputation as a man-starved freaktacular party, but either we came on the wrong weekend or my NGB mojo is more powerful than I realized.

I'm heading to APE on Thursday for more stress & humble pie (with a scoop of exhaustion, no doubt). At least I'll have company, whether or not I decide to change my name to misery.

March 30 - I'll be sitting a table at Conbust tomorrow through Sunday (March 31-April 2). Unfortunately I don't think the books will quite arrive in time but I'll have a few printouts so people can see the strip. Plus I'll have some promo things and a Conbust special edition (basically the next 6-7 strips).

Feb 21 - Back again. Sorry about the hiatus there. Hamburgler is a lot more muscular than you'd think. Must be all the burger protein.
